This challenge is if I think of scrapbooking as an art or not.
I do think of it as an art. There are some that are more creative than others. I am just getting started in the art part of it. It is almost like opening another door compared to what I use to think of scrapping. I remember about 3 years ago when a friend invited me to a CM party. I didn't go and thought why oh why did she invite me. Well...she didn't let it drop there. She had me a baby shower and at that shower she gave me a cm 7 x 7 album, baby girl snap pack, photo splits, black pen, and page protectors. I know the look on my face when I opened that gift had to be so obvious. I thought she won't quit. I put all that in a box under the bed in the extra room. My first thought was recycle...ha ha. A couple of months passed, and I had my DD. She then invited me to yet another class this time I thought ok I will go and maybe she will leave me alone about this. I actually had to do a page and I was hooked. I then wanted everything!! I even signed up to become a consultant just so I could put my hands on the stuff first. I liked my way of scrapping....sorta. I was doing the cm way for about 2 years. Then one day Rhonda called and said that she was going to be at her parents that weekend and she wanted us to get together and scrap. I looked at her album and thought wow her album is so awesome. She told me about Scrapgal and I started checking it out and looking at the gallery. I remember Dina and Wendy talking about "sticker sneezy" pages and I thought oh my that is a lot of what I was taught from CM. After debating about what I really wanted to do I decided I wanted to try the more "artsie/crafty" way. It was so exciting to look at all the layouts in the gallery and how they looked so amazing. I then told DH I was ready for the different way of scrapping and he said he knew it was just a matter of time before I saw all the other ways there was out there to do. I am so excited about my new adventure. I scrapped with a friend from work last weekend that is/was one of my best customers and she is starting to want to do more with her scrapping also. She was doing a page that she didn't have stickers to go with and I explained to her that was another reason I was tired of the CM way. It is possible to do several layouts without having one pack of stickers. Next Saturday is my last crop as a CMC and I can't wait to make room for all my new supplies. I think scrapbooking is definately an art. I hope to be able to expand my creativity and have layouts like the awesome girls at Scrapgal.
